Red Star

This old school yum cha establishment is not only popular (read: be prepared to queue!) with the older crowd, youngsters are not an uncommon sight. Its one of the few places which serves dim sum on push carts. Noisy and vibrant, sometimes bordering a war zone. It is semi self service, you make your advance on the carts which never get to you, and you top up your own tea pot at the hot water station.

Jelly Fish with Sliced Pork ($10) was a great appetizer. Nice notes of sesame oil.
Banana with Shrimp ($3.80) is good while You Tiao ($3.80) is normal.
Love the super fluffy Char Siew Pau ($3.00) with sweet pork "feeling"
Egg Tart ($3.80) with flakey crust. I like! Subtle vanilla taste makes the custard sweet.
Chicken Feet ($3.80) has a robust taste. Different from the usual ones at Imperial.
Pork Rib ($3.80) can be softer, although taste is great!
Baked Char Siew Sou ($3.80) Not bad, but not great.
Siew Mai ($3.80) is not great.
Century Egg Porridge ($3.80)
Interestingly, Red Star imposes a 5% service charge instead of the usual 10%. Tea charged at $1.40 per person and peanuts at $1 per table.
