Skinny Pizza

"Skinny Pizza. What a crack." That is the full name, wonder how many people actually noticed it...

Three sides of Truffle Fries, 1/4 m Spicy Chicken Sausage and Fried Brie Cheese ($15). Caught a whiff of truffle scent as the wait staff placed the starters on the table. Thin shoe-string fries with truffle oil were nice without being overpowering. If only they have a choice of thick-cut fries. I like the taste of the 25cm spicy chicken sausage, juicy and well-fried. But it was too thin for my liking. I prefer my sausages thick and chunky. Fried Brie Cheese was creamy and pistacho bits sprinkled on it brought out the milkiness of the cheese. No faults with regards to taste. Just does not gel well with my personal preference for thick-cut fries and fat sausages. 7/10

Reinvention is the key word. This place has interesting pizza flavours like english breakfast and salt cod brandade. There are also those with an asian twist like vietnamese coconut poached chicken, ginger chicken and black pepper crabs. Taking Reinvention further, Skinny Pizza promises the "skinniest, crispiest, crackiest base with the most mouth-watering ingredients". And they live up to it. Some people liken the crust to papadum, which I think is pretty apt.

Squid Ink Pizza ($23) is a feast of grilled squids and prawns on a special squid ink crust. Love the charred-grilled-bbq taste (somehow I just do not think "smokey" is the right word to use here...) of the squids and prawns. Very well done! The squid ink paste on the crust was delicious. Pizza was topped with arugula, red onions and cheese. Compared to my usual order of Truffle Mushroom pizza, this one is lighter and has a more clean-cut taste, but both are equally satisfying! 8/10

Lobster Linguine ($22) was served with crabmeat and prawn bolognese tossed in black pepper sauce, topped with salmon caviar.

This pasta is awesome! The black pepper sauce packs a whole lot of punch, and spice! Each strand was tasty, but not too oily. I liked the pieces of crabmeat and prawn, albeit few and small. Would gladly trade the half lobster for more crabmeat and prawns. The lobster was done just right, still moist and succulent, but what can be improved though is the quality. It lacks the sweetness of fresh (as opposed to frozen) seafood. 9/10

A constant struggle. To have or not to have.

But I gave in to Bitter Chocolate Tart ($8). Chocolate was ultra smooth and fairly rich, but did not blow me away. Will probably pass on this next time, but will try other cakes since I've had a couple of other good desserts here previously. 5/10
